W-3 Preparations

Porto ja uns dies, fins i tot setmanes preparant la ruta, les dates, els contactes, els papers... això és més complicat del que semblava. Els trajectes en tren son llargs, els dies curts. Una setmana aquí i una altra allà, serà impossible visitar a tothom si vull arribar a Sibèria abans que comenci el fred. La burocràcia russa és complicada, per obtenir un visat de 2 entrades i 3 mesos necessito una invitaciò formal al pais (www.visatorussia.com), una prova (negativa, és clar) del SIDA i una asseguranca de viatge aprovada. Un cop obtinguts tots els papers, que ja estan en marxa en el dia d'avui, s'ha d'anar al consulat de Barcelona (www.rusbar.com) i esperar uns quants dies més per obtenir el visat.
Espero poder aconseguir-ho tot abans del dia 10 de Juny, dia en que SkyEurope em portarà, en un viatge només d'anada, a la capital Hongaresa, inici del trajecte. Tornar a Budapest és com tornar a casa,  ciutat que conec a la perfecció perquè hi vaig viure 9 mesos i on hi tinc moltíssims amics que de ben segur em donaran ànims el dia que els digui adéu des de Keleti, l'estació de tren de l'Est de la ciutat.

Lots of things must be done before the start of the trip. Select the route, the dates, people to visit, paperwork... Much more work than I expected. Train timetables that don't always suit me, every week has too little days... Visiting friends here and there, city after city, trying not to miss anybody can delay my arrival to Siberia too much and get the first cold days after the summer.
Invitation for the russian visa is on the way (www.visatorussia.com). Since I need 90-day visa with 2 entries and the toursit visa is limited to 30 days, I had to ask for a "business" visa which requires much more bureaucracy: #1 invitation from a russian institution approved by some sort of ministery in Moscow, #2 approved travel insurance, #3 negative AIDS certificate, #4 go to the consulate in Barcelona (www.rusbar.com) with all these papers to get the visa, which of course, will take some days more. Everything is on the way right now.
Even the one-way flight to Budapest with SkyEurope is booked already for que 10th of June. Going back to the hungarian capital will be like going back home, it's a city where I worked and lived almost for a year in 2004, still many friends live there and I will be very happy to meet them all before leaving towards the East from Keleti train station.

W-7 Minsk

Acabo de tornar de 10 dies de vacances a Minsk (Bielorrússia). 15h de curs de rus no han donat gaire de si, pero almenys puc pronunciar alguns sons completament desconeguts anteriorment. Com pronunciarieu una L sonora a diferencia d'una L sorda? Ja puc dir frases senzilles, entendre i llegir una mica mes. Jenya (a la foto un dia de festa) va ser la meva professora.
Diuen que Minsk es mes comunista que la pròpia Russia, els edificis i els carrers, sota la dictadura de Lukashenko, no han canviat en els darrers 15 anys. El joves, que protesten al carrer sota el risk de ser detinguts per la "milizia", diuen que un bar o restaurant es "democràtic" per dir que està de moda i que els agrada.

I have spent 10 days in Minsk, getting a little bit more familiar with the russian language (my teacher Jenya in the picture). Beautiful people, not so interesting sightseeing. Lukashenka, the so-called "last dictator in Europe" took power when I was there, streets where closed by the army, noone could approach the October Square, he seems afraid of "his" own citizens. Freedom and Democracy is not far away, nobody can stop what >80% of the population want.
